What is Agoric?
Overview of Agoric
Agoric is a smart contract built on the Cosmos SDK using Tendermint PoS and a native token to secure the network. The project aims to provide a fully secure, reliable and available dApps development and deployment environment.
The project is developed in a secure, block-chain agnotic language based on Javascript (which has more than 10 million programmers worldwide). Besides, the project has the original values of the built-in Defi platform. Thanks to this, Agoric can support stablecoins, promoting development in a reliable way.
The Agoric Difference
- Agoric uses the RUN protocol to mint $RUN – the token used to pay fees on the network
- Agoric uses a new programming language called ZOE, to help developers create smart contracts that are secure and easy to deploy.
- Agoric has the ability to expand applications flexibly and effectively. At the same time, it also uses advanced security technologies to ensure the security and safety of smart contracts.
- Agoric uses the Cosmos blockchain to provide a trusted infrastructure for application development.
The components that make up Agoric
- Staker: Participants stake $BLD tokens to receive staking rewards.
- Validator: Group of people who validate transactions that take place on the chain. They will participate in consensus protocols and ensure the network is secure.
- Market Participant: Are people who make transactions on Agoric and pay fees in $RUN.
Mechanism of action
- User-defined contracts: Identify swaps, auctions, DEX.
- ZOE: Perform escrow and smart contracts tasks.
- ERTP (Eletric Rights Transfer Protocol): Identify and mint assets.
- Agoric VM (Swing set): Provides an operating environment based on Javascript.
- Cosmos/Tendermint: Provides a consensus layer.
Development roadmap
This May, the team will have 2 community calls with the community about updating the Kesnel & Contract testnet. Almost every month, the Agoric team will update project development progress on the homepage.
Core Team
- Dean Tribble, Co-founder & CEO – Agoric OpCo: Designed the negotiation and contracting process for the first smart contract system, AMiX. As principal architect at Microsoft, he designed the Midori distributed object capability operating system. Formerly CTO of Verify Valid and VP of Deluxe, his echeck systems brought in billions of dollars.
- Mark S. Miller, Co-founder & Chief Scientist – Agoric OpCo: A pioneer of smart contracts and Agoric computing. Principal designer of the object-capability programming language, inventor of Miller Columns. Architect of the Xanadu hypertext publishing system, a representative of the EcmaScript committee.
- Michael Jablon, Chief Operating Officer – Agoric OpCo: For more than 25 years of strategic leadership, he has leveraged breakthrough technologies (IP, VoIP, Smart Home) to drive major change and open up completely new business opportunities. completely new. At Spectrum, he was vice president of manufacturing and strategy, initiating and leading the growth of digital telephony to more than 4 million subscribers and $2 billion in annual revenue.
Investor
The project has raised a total of $90.25M in capital from private and public sale rounds since 2019 until now. The last time it took place on Coinlist, the project successfully raised 2 public sale rounds worth $52.25M from leading investment funds such as: Polychain Capital, Lemniscap, gumi Cryptos Capital…
