Web3 is emerging with the potential to become a place for everyone to access with fairness and transparency. But verifying user identity on Web3 is not yet possible and is it really necessary in Blockchain. That’s really difficult to say, so we still need a lot of time to monitor how the market develops.
During this time, a project was born to solve the problem of user identity verification in the Web3 world. That project is Sismo, followed by many famous people in the Crypto world such as Vitalik, Mark Cuban, Andre Cronje,…
What is Sismo? Sismo is a protocol that helps verify user identities on Web2 and Web3 while still meeting requirements for user information security. So what is Sismo? Let’s find out details in this article!
What is Sismo?
Sismo is a protocol that helps verify user identities on Web2 and Web3 while still meeting requirements for user information security. Sismo’s authentication will be based on Attorneys, who prove and issue certificates as well as store certificates for users.
The protocol uses zk-SNARK technology to create proofs and authentication. Helps ensure user privacy. That is also the strength that this technology brings to users.
Sismo aggregates user identities across both Web2 and Web3 into one NFT so users can easily bring their identities to interact across Web3. This is a platform for both users and developers, for users they can combine all their identities and for developers they can request certification on the projects they develop .
Like Binance Account Bound Token, Sismo’s certificate is a non-transferable NFT called Soulbound Tokens. This NFT is minted to standard ERC1155 on Ethereum.
With this identity, users can prove to the community which organizations or projects they belong to or what they own without revealing private information (name, home address, citizen identification card). their. This makes it convenient to recruit personnel in Web3, choose an administrator in Dao or determine credit levels for unsecured loans.
Once authenticated and have proof of identity, users can still update additional data as well as other identities. New identities will be created with new evidence, and old evidence will no longer exist.
Sismo Vault
Importing accounts into Vault stores the secret codes needed to create proof, allowing users to mint Badges or import their data into the app. Sismo Vault stores cryptographic signatures used as proof of account ownership on web3.
Various types of accounts can be imported into Sismo Vault:
- Web3 Account (Ethereum address owned by private key)
- Web2 Accounts (GitHub, Twitter)
- Certification issued by government, organization,… (coming soon)
Attesters
Attesters are the core smart contract of the Sismo protocol. They are responsible for verification user and level requirements authentication.

Core Team
Hadrien Charlanes: Founder at Sismo
- In 2014, he completed the Master of Science program specializing in Financial Engineering and Entrepreneurship at École des Ponts ParisTech.
- In 2015, he became a Software Engineer at ConsenSys, a major force in the industry behind many large projects, especially Metamask. But after more than 3 years he left and found another destination.
- In 2020, he became an Ethereum Engineer of Aave, the leading Lending project in the market at that time. He worked on Aave protocol smart contracts and Aave governance smart contracts.
- In August 2021, he joined in founding Sismo and developing it until now.
Quentin Puzenat: Co-Founder & CTO
- In 2021, he worked at KRYPTOSPHERE, where he worked as a Member of AI Department-Training Team for 4 months, then he was promoted to Member of AI Department-Head of Training Team.
- After leaving KRYPTOSPHERE, he tried his hand at CM-CIC Leasing for 4 months, his job was related to data science.
- In November 2021, he joined the founding of Orphen, where he worked as Co-Founder and CTO. At Orphen he develops Rust smart contracts on Elrond and the user interface of dApps, in charge of technical aspects.
- After 8 months working at Orphen, he became Blockchain Developer at Banque de France. And currently he is a Software Engineer at Sismo.
