What is Hyperlane? Hyperlane is a new generation interaction protocol that can connect to Blockchains to help transfer assets, data and interactions for dApps. The project has many strengths in connecting with modular blockchains or Appchains. Hyperlane receives investment and support from large funds such as Variant, Circle, CoinFund,…

Hyperlane Overview
What is Hyperlane?
Hyperlane is a cross-chain protocol, or can be considered a layer built for the Modular Blockchain Stack. Like other communication protocols, Hyperlane can connect to Blockchain Layer 1, Layer 2, Layer 3 and even Appchain.
Blockchains are easy to integrate into Hyperlane, simply adding the Mailbox smart contract to handle transactions going to other chains via Hyperlane. The Mailbox smart contract provides an on-chain API to receive and send messages between chains. Each thread connected to Mailbox will have 1 Smart Contract Mailbox.
Hyperlane can be used to build Interchain dApps, similar to Omnichain. Hyperlane can be seen as a project with many similarities to LayerZero, as it is a communication protocol and places Smart Contracts of a client application on chains. From there, it unlocks a multi-chain interactive environment, also known as Omnichain.
Hyperlane provides the following services:
- Accounts API: Accounts can call functions of other threads.
- Queties API: Read remote string status. For example, Chain A can read the price data of the babi.eth domain on Ethereum.
- Messaging API: Messaging to send and receive arbitrary data between contracts on different chains.
Hyperlane is secured using the Interchain security module (ISM). ISMs are smart contracts responsible for verifying that cross-chain messages to the destination chain are actually sent from the origin chain. ISM includes many Validators participating in monitoring and operation. Developers can choose any number of Validators in Hyperlane’s ISM system, or can create new ISM systems or use other parties’ ISM systems such as Wormhole ISM, Optimistic ISM, Hook ISM, CCIP-Read ISM or total combination of multiple ISM systems.
Structure of Hyperlane
HHyperlae is composed of the following main components:
- Relayer: When it detects a new message from Mailbox it will query the destination string to determine the recipient address. It is then responsible for synthesizing the data needed for the ISM.
- Mailbox: A smart contract mounted on chains, responsible for receiving and sending messages.
- ISM: Includes Validators that will participate in confirming the authenticity of the message at the Mailbox in the destination chain before being sent to the user’s wallet.
Hyperlane’s mechanism of action
Hyperlane uses a mechanism to lock the token on the origin chain, then wrap it on the destination chain. The project calls this mechanism Warp Routes and its operation is specified as follows:
- User transactions when interacting with the parent chain will be sent to Mailbox on that parent chain.
- Mailbox sends a message with necessary data to the Relayer.
- After receiving a message from the Mailbox in the source chain, the Relayer will perform the task of querying the destination chain to confirm the receiving address and synthesize the necessary data from the source chain related to the transaction and then send it to the Mailbox in the source chain. destination string.
- The mailbox in the target thread stores the message in the target thread and interacts with the ISM.
- ISM uses available data to verify that messages existing on the destination chain were actually sent from the source chain. If ISM returns to Mailbox in the destination string a correct answer then step 6 is performed.
- Mailbox will execute that message, for example sending data or mint tokens to the user’s wallet address on the destination chain.
