What is Eclipse? Eclipse is a Solana virtual machine platform (Solana Virtual Machine) opens a new era after EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine). So what is interesting and different about Eclipse compared to EVM? Weakhand Find out through this article.
Eclipse Overview
History of crypto development
Ethereum and Sodility have truly become the biggest forces in smart contract platforms and programming languages in the crypto market. It can be said that all programmers must learn the Sodility programming language first before wanting to build a product or project.
Therefore, most of the blockchain platforms that were born later were built and developed in the direction of EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) to attract a large Sodility developer community. Some typical successful examples are Polygon POS, BNB Chain, Fantom, Avalanche C-Chain,… And we also have a few examples of choosing another programming language but still not being successful like Tron, Cardano, EOS,…
Through historic campaigns, Solana has initially become one of the most successful EVMs by attracting a large number of developers to participate in the Rust programming language community. According to Solana, Rust has many improvements compared to Ethereum’s Sodility.
As Solana and Rust became more and more popular, terms like SVM (Solana Virtual Machine) started to become popular in the crypto market.
What is Eclipse?
First Eclipse is a Platform Blockchain built within the Cosmos ecosystem and brings Solana compatibility to Cosmos. So projects on Solana can easily build, expand and develop on the Cosmos ecosystem through Eclipse.
Eclipse is similar to Aurora bringing EVM compatibility to Near Protocol, C Chain bringing EVM compatibility to Avalanche and many other examples.
In addition, Eclipse provides a framework for 1 Layer, for a Modular Blockchain trend in the market. Eclipse acts as a transaction dispute resolution layer and Layer 1 Layers act as a consensus layer and store data while the rest execution will take place on the App Chain.
So other parties can use Eclipse’s open source code to build platforms that take other Layer 1s such as Aptos, Ethereum, Near Protocol, Solana,… as the consensus and execution layer and then interact with Cosmos. through the IBC cross-chain bridge.

Summary
Eclipse promises to open a new era for SVM and Rust. Besides being invested by many reputable and well-known investment funds, Eclipse deserves to be one of the projects on the watch list. However, with Solana having many problems after the collapse of FTX and Alameda, Solana’s future is quite gloomy, which also partly affects the development of Eclipse.
